Recently in Taiwan, a cold wave has swept through, causing temperatures to drop sharply and prompting many people to stay indoors to keep warm. Similarly, Japan has been experiencing heavy snowfall across many regions, with numerous reports of snow disasters. Japanese households commonly prepare for winter by having heaters ready, but for those with pets such as cats, their furry companions also activate their own cold-weather survival mechanisms.
A Japanese Twitter user recently shared how their cats are also enduring the winter by clinging to the heater, looking incredibly comfortable. The household has quite a few cats, all gathered closely around the heater as if part of a "fire worship" congregation, almost revering the warmth like a sacred flame. The owner even mentioned that it's difficult to get close to the heater because the cats have claimed it as their territory.
With such warmth, what else is there to do but sleep? Indeed, all the cats have made the heater their base and are sleeping soundly, exuding a cozy, lazy vibe. While this scene might be uncommon in Taiwan, in Japan, many homes have a traditional heated table called a kotatsu. Cats naturally take advantage of this by snuggling under it to keep warm. However, pet owners should still monitor the temperature to ensure it doesn't get too hot and harm their cats.
For those who have pets at home, especially cats, it's worth noting that the cold weather requires more than just adding layers of clothing for ourselves. Our animal companions also need proper warmth to get through the winter comfortably and safely.
まだまだ寒いねぇ。
