Furiend: A Midway Café for Stray Dogs in Tainan, Taiwan

Many people wish to have a dog but worry about not bonding with them or fear they cannot take on the responsibility of caring for a pet. Furiend in Tainan has heard these concerns and offers a unique experience where you can interact with dogs to see if you're ready to become a pet owner. This pet-friendly cafe provides delicious food, pet cakes, snacks, and dog adoption services.

About Furiend

Furiend, located in the alleys of Tainan's East District, began operations on April 30, 2020. The owner, a Tainan native, has always been passionate about dogs and envisioned a dog cafe. After seeing the number of dogs in shelters, the owner decided to create a place where dogs could be adopted and cared for, rather than just being an idea.

Experience and Services

At Furiend, you can dine with your own dog, provided they wear a polite leash and are free from parasites and diseases. The cafe offers dog treats that you can feed to the in-house dogs, creating a fun and interactive experience. You can also order fresh fruit and vegetable dishes or cakes for your pet to enjoy alongside you.

Adoption Opportunities

The dogs at Furiend have their own stories, including those rescued from shelters or found in parks. You can find more about these dogs on their fan page. The owners have adopted several dogs themselves, and you can too! The adoption fee is NT$3,000, which serves as a simple screening to ensure responsible pet ownership.

Human Delights

For humans, the cafe offers a variety of dishes made with fresh ingredients from the market, including sandwiches, noodles, and toast. Recommended dishes include the beef steak with cheese and soft-boiled egg, and the pan-seared pork belly bowl with pickled egg yolk, adding a rich flavor profile.
