Furiend officially opened at its current location on April 30, 2020, on Chongren Street. The owner, a native of Tainan who has loved dogs since childhood, had long dreamed of running a dog café. After reviewing data on stray dogs in Tainan shelters, the owner wanted to turn the idea of dog ownership from imagination into reality by helping dogs find suitable adoptive families and reducing shelter populations. Thus, Furiend was born.
The Dogs and Their Stories
Each dog at Furiend has a unique story. Many were rescued from shelters and brought to the café as a temporary home. Others were found in parks or near the restaurant. These stories are shared on the café's social media, and the owner and his wife have personally adopted several dogs to be part of their family.
