Today, let's continue discussing the story of the chocolate poodle named "Xiao Li." Not only is the question posed by the sister different from those of other owners, but even Xiao Li's answers are unique. For example, while most people ask, "Do you like having the ashes at home?" the sister asks, "Would you dislike having the ashes at home?" Xiao Li responds, "Sister, your choice is Xiao Li's choice; there’s no way I would dislike it." She explains, "The urn contains not just Xiao Li’s ashes but also our memories and love throughout our lives. If you don't take these home, where will you put them?"
"When you miss me, you can talk to it; isn’t that nice? Otherwise, do you want to talk to the air?" I asked the sister why she worried that Xiao Li might not like it. She replied, "Because Xiao Li loves to go out and make friends; I fear keeping him at home might confine him." However, it seems that Xiao Li thinks his sister is overthinking.
The sister also wants to know if he has met his best friend over there and cautions him, "Don’t get too excited and scare others!" I asked her to send a photo of his best friend. Upon seeing it, I felt a sense of familiarity—it was none other than "Shaoye," the innocent red poodle we had just shared about not long ago. What a coincidence! Now that I occasionally have time to take on cases, both dogs managed to successfully schedule appointments one after another, and they both have quite the personalities.
"Shaoye isn’t just a good friend; he’s like a buddy," Xiao Li said. "I know where he is, but I can’t go find him because I’ve been a senior spirit for a year now (having passed away), while he just arrived not long ago (one month since passing). We are in different spaces; once his training for rebirth is complete, he will come looking for me." I found it curious why the sister wanted Chocolate not to scare Shaoye since both poodles used to walk together. She explained, "Because every time Chocolate meets someone, he gets so excited that sometimes Shaoye gets angry." Chocolate quickly defended himself: "Shaoye isn’t innocent either!" He wanted to let the sister know that it was always Shaoye who started the quarrels.
However, Xiao Li promised his sister that he would be very happy when Shaoye arrives and assured her he wouldn’t be overly excited then. Finally, the most special answer from Xiao Li came when his sister said that whether he reincarnates or continues being a happy little angel in training, she hopes he can follow his own wishes. Chocolate joyfully asked, "Really?" because he said in his next life he wants to experience being a carefree baboon—what a surprise!
"Because all the angels here say Xiao Li looks very special and handsome, just like a baboon. I think that must be very manly; I want to experience it," he explained. Although he is just a little boy often styled with bows by his sister, it turns out he has always wanted to feel manly.
The sister asked with some reluctance: "If we have a chance to meet again, how would I know it's you?" Xiao Li replied thoughtfully: "Well... Sister, if I reincarnate as a baboon and we meet again, it means I might be in a zoo! But I don’t want to be caged again!" The reason for not wanting to be caged again is that before turning seven years old, Chocolate was a dog from a relative's family who kept him in a cage. After their family immigrated, his sister took him in. Their ways of showing love were different; she gave Xiao Li complete freedom of movement. Therefore, in Xiao Li's heart, his sister holds significant weight like a mother.
"Xiao Li wished so much that he could have lived with you from the start so you could enjoy my cutest moments," he expressed. "How lucky am I to have met you later on and be surrounded by true love? My life has been rich; in my first half of life as a dog and in the second half as a human—I’ve experienced both! Now I want to experience another pure natural life!" He thanked them for accepting him as part of their family despite being somewhat difficult: "Even though I'm a bit hard to handle, you still love me so much!"
I asked the sister how Chocolate was difficult; it turns out every bite of food had to be served by hand for him to accept it. After 13 years as their beloved dog wanting to become a baboon in nature, he asked his sister if that was okay. Of course, she sent him her best wishes.
