Labrador Guide Dog Cowers Beside Owner on Subway, Too Afraid to Move

A recent video on social media has captured the attention of many netizens, showcasing a poignant scene involving a guide dog on the subway. The dog, accompanying its owner, covered its mouth and nose with its front paws upon seeing other passengers board the train. It refused to lift its head, appearing extremely timid and submissive, which deeply moved the onlookers. The video has gone viral, with over ten thousand views, prompting comments like, "This is the first time I've seen a working dog look so downtrodden," and "What could this dog have experienced to behave like this?"

Many viewers expressed their sadness and concern, speculating that the dog might have been mistreated in the past. Comments included, "Heaven knows what this dog has been through," "I've never seen a guide dog behave like this before," and "It's hard to imagine the pressure this dog is under." Some netizens appealed to other passengers to show compassion, stating, "Some passengers really need to have a conscience; these guide dogs work hard and still get harassed or attacked."

This incident highlights the challenges faced by guide dogs and their owners in public spaces, often due to lack of awareness and understanding. Despite legal protections, guide dogs in China frequently encounter rejection and misunderstanding, making their roles even more challenging.
