On April 11, the Hsinchu County Animal Protection and Epidemic Prevention Office received multiple reports of dogs being maliciously abandoned in Qionglin Township, Xinpu Town, and Guanxi Township of Hsinchu County. The office promptly dispatched staff to retrieve the abandoned dogs, conduct health checks, and arrange for their care.
As of noon today, a total of 13 abandoned dogs have been found. The office emphasized that abandoning pets and illegal breeding can result in fines up to NT$150,000 and NT$250,000 respectively.
It was noted that all the abandoned Shiba Inu dogs had neither been registered as pets nor neutered, leading to the suspicion that they were discarded due to mismanagement by an illegal breeder. The case has been reported to the police for further investigation.
The Animal Protection Office stated that this case involves multiple violations of the Animal Protection Act, with the maximum fines for pet abandonment and illegal breeding set at NT$150,000 and NT$250,000 respectively. After completing the necessary administrative procedures, the abandoned dogs will be made available for adoption by the public.
Hsinchu County Government once again urges the public not to abandon animals. If anyone discovers suspected illegal breeding or animal mistreatment, they are encouraged to immediately report to animal protection authorities or call the 1959 animal protection hotline. The community is called upon to work together to protect animal lives and eliminate illegal breeding operations.
