How to Tell if Your Pet is Truly Relaxed at Home

How can you tell if your furry friend is genuinely relaxed at home? Recently, popular mainland Chinese veterinarian and influencer Zhang Xu shared some insightful tips on Weibo. According to him, simply observing your pet's sleeping posture can reveal a lot about their emotional state.

Zhang Xu explains, "The more awkward and casual the sleeping position, the more relaxed and comfortable your pet feels." For example, if you see your cat or dog sleeping on their back with all four paws in the air, sprawled out flat on the floor, or even drooling while asleep, these completely unguarded and carefree postures indicate they are in a state of total security and stress-free comfort.

On the other hand, if your pet tends to curl up tightly in corners, tuck their tail, lean against walls, and frequently glance around nervously, it could mean they are feeling unwell or experiencing anxiety and tension.

Special Tips for Cats

Zhang Xu also highlights that when it comes to cats, you can observe their "activity range" at home. If your cat happily wanders around the house, jumps up and down frequently, and explores every nook and cranny, it's a good sign they feel safe and secure in their environment.

Conversely, if your cat hides under the bed, stays inside cabinets, or remains perched in high places all day without daring to come down, it may indicate that they feel threatened, scared, or even bullied by other animals.

By paying attention to these subtle behaviors and sleeping habits, pet owners can better understand their companions' emotional well-being and create a more comforting home environment.
