The Jessamine County Emergency Management Department in Kentucky recently received a report of a strange crying sound heard by a passerby walking near a canyon close to Brooklyn. Following the direction of the sound, the witness spotted a tiny black dot perched precariously on the edge of a 100-foot (approximately 30.5 meters) cliff. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a trapped dog, at risk of falling into the Kentucky River below.
Risky Cliffside Rescue Operation
The rescue team quickly set up ropes along the cliff and descended using rappelling techniques to reach the distressed dog. Thanks to their extensive experience, the rescuers managed to gain the dog's trust. They carefully fitted the dog with a safety harness and secured it on a stretcher. Then, with one rescuer and the dog attached, they were pulled back up to safety.
Bailey's Condition and Identification
The dog, trembling and weak, was immediately taken to an animal shelter for initial examination. Fortunately, the dog was microchipped. The shelter discovered that the dog's name was Bailey and that Bailey had been reported missing by a family.
