Seasonal Shedding and the Changing Face of a Beloved Cat

Pets, affectionately called "fur babies", go through several shedding cycles each year as the seasons change. A Japanese cat owner recently shared a heartfelt observation about this natural process, noting how their beloved cat's face noticeably thins during each shedding period.

On the social platform X (formerly Twitter), a Japanese user named "MiniraDiary" posted about their playful and adorable tabby cat, Minira. On the 16th, the owner wrote that a lot of thick fur had fallen out at home, marking the start of Minira's shedding season. The cat's once fluffy and round face quickly became slimmer, a transformation so visible that it brought mixed feelings of amusement and envy to the owner.

The post struck a chord with many cat owners, drawing over 1.4 million views and sparking lively discussions. Fellow pet lovers empathized, sharing comments such as:

  • "This surpasses any beauty advertisement."
  • "Cats are naturally beautiful; humans should just give up."
  • "Cats really do become different creatures in summer and winter."
  • "So true! No matter how hard I try, I can't slim my face, but cats' faces shrink with the seasons—it's so unfair."

Others humorously added that cats are the cutest animals regardless of whether they are fat or thin.
