52 Snakes Swarm the Family Door! "An Unstoppable Flood of Snakes" Turns His House into a Snake Den

As summer arrives, reptiles have started to appear in abundance! In the village of Simauli, located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India, a well-known farmer named Mahfooz Saifi discovered a snake approximately 1.5 feet (about 0.46 meters) long near his home. He immediately killed it, but to his surprise, many more snakes soon emerged.

Alarmed by the sudden influx, Saifi called on fellow villagers for assistance. Together, they ended up killing around 52 snakes in total, a truly shocking number.

According to a report by Kalinga TV, the incident occurred on the evening of June 1. Saifi was about to go to sleep when he suddenly spotted a snake about 1.5 feet long. Frightened, he promptly killed it. However, not long after, dozens more snakes appeared, causing him great fear. Fortunately, nearby villagers heard the commotion and arrived with tools to help.

Video footage shows live snakes continuously emerging from the slope near Saifi's doorstep. The villagers spared none, killing all the snakes they could find. After counting, they confirmed a total of 52 snakes were killed.

After receiving the report, the forestry department arrived at the scene to handle the situation. They identified the snakes as non-venomous water snakes, which commonly inhabit damp areas such as drainage ditches. These snakes typically do not attack humans unless provoked.

The forestry officials explained that non-venomous water snakes have been protected under the Wildlife Protection Act since 1972. "We learned that some residents killed the snakes without notifying authorities and buried them in pits. These snakes are protected animals, and anyone taking action should first inform the proper authorities," the department stated.

The exact number of non-venomous water snakes killed and the burial locations remain under investigation by the authorities.
