In Lenexa, Kansas, a curious incident recently unfolded that caught the attention of local residents and authorities alike. One day, a household was startled to find a poor little cat outside their door. However, upon closer inspection, it turned out to be something quite different, prompting them to quickly notify animal control officers.
The Incident During the Storm
According to the Lenexa Police Department, on the day of a severe storm, they received an emergency call from a household. The caller reported finding a cat outside their home — a drenched and shivering furry friend hiding in a corner, seemingly very frightened. Initially, they intended to adopt the animal, but after a careful look, they noticed that its size was larger than a typical kitten and its ears were rounder. It appeared to be a bobcat — a wild animal also known as the American wildcat — which required immediate notification of animal control.

Animal Control Steps In
The police revealed that animal control officers promptly arrived at the scene and successfully captured the bobcat. They secured the animal in a safe location and, the next day, released it back into its natural habitat to reunite with its mother. Authorities urged the public: "If you ever encounter a wild animal, be sure to report it to professionals for proper handling."
About the Bobcat
Bobcats have fur ranging from gray to brown, with whiskers on their face and black fur on their ears. They resemble other medium-sized lynx species and can easily be mistaken for ordinary house cats. However, bobcats are wild predators that enjoy hunting rabbits and hares, insects, small rodents, as well as deer and pronghorns. Their habitats typically include woodlands, semi-deserts, urban areas, and swamps.
