Rabbit urine is highly concentrated, making its irritation to the skin very severe. When urine directly contacts the skin for some time without being cleaned, it can cause a condition commonly known as diaper rash or urine burns.
Urine burns typically start with hair loss and skin redness and swelling, which can then progress into serious bacterial infections. These infections may lead to moist, oozing sores and even skin ulceration.
Urine burns often occur in areas prone to feces and urine exposure, such as under the rabbit's hind legs, the base of the tail, and the soles of the feet.
