A short clip lasting just 10 seconds recently sparked a heated discussion on TikTok, showing a massive Great Dane sitting like a passenger in an airplane cabin seat. The dog appeared to enjoy the same rights as humans, catching the astonished eyes of fellow travelers, who pulled out their phones to capture this unusual sight.
A TikTok user named Pau Gtz uploaded the video titled "The Cutest Passenger." The footage shows the large Great Dane calmly sitting in a cabin seat, its entire head extending well over the chair's headrest, making it impossible to miss. Many passengers who noticed the canine traveler turned around to take a look, some filming with their phones while others smiled in surprise.
Even more remarkable was the dog's composed demeanor throughout the flight — no barking, no chaos — behaving just like a well-trained exemplary passenger. After the clip went viral, it quickly stirred discussions across social media.
According to follow-up information from Horus's owner, the Great Dane's name is Horus. Horus didn't have to be crated and placed in the cargo hold because he is a certified Emotional Support Animal (ESA), meaning he provides his owner with emotional comfort and helps alleviate negative feelings.
Before flying, all necessary documents were properly prepared, including a complete vaccination record, deworming, and medical certificates. These were submitted to Viva Aerobus, the Mexican low-cost airline used on the flight. Only after verification was Horus allowed to travel alongside his owner as an economy class passenger.
Under current Mexican law, airlines may permit animals in the cabin under specific circumstances, including guide dogs and other service animals, as well as certified emotional support or psychiatric assistance animals. Unless there are objections, airlines generally require owners to apply in advance, submit all relevant documentation, and guarantee the animal behaves properly so as not to jeopardize passenger safety or flight order.
Since being posted, Horus's video has racked up over 9.8 million views, with many internet users praising the airline for its pet-friendly attitude and acknowledging the importance of such policies for people with mental health needs. Comments included, "I'd rather sit next to a well-behaved dog than a stinky man," "He behaves better than the kids on the plane," "The most distinguished passenger should fly first class," "He's the most handsome guy on the flight," and "Hope more airlines accept pets."
However, some expressed concerns: "Isn't bringing animals dangerous?" "Having fur and drool on the plane is really unpleasant," "What if someone is allergic to dogs and has to rebook their flight?" and "What about when the dog relieves itself?"
