A Sad Story About Little Bei the Chihuahua

This is a sad story about a Chihuahua named Little Bei (a pseudonym) who usually doesn't go outside by herself. She only waits by the shop entrance in the evening for her mom to finish work and take her out to pee. One day, for some unknown reason, she left two hours earlier than usual. Taking advantage of her family's inattentiveness, she sneaked out by herself to relieve herself, but was hit by a car driving through the alley without slowing down. She suffered internal bleeding and despite being rushed to the hospital, she did not survive.

Her mother said that since the family's shop is open-fronted, she normally watches Little Bei's movements through surveillance cameras while she is at work to prevent any accidents. If Little Bei accidentally got outside, she could quickly call a family member to bring her back home. But that day, her mother was very busy, and when she finally looked up at the monitor, she heard family members wailing and carrying a box into the house. She immediately knew something terrible had happened to her little "cotton quilt," completely breaking down.

Losing Little Bei, the mother didn't know how to go on with her days. For thirteen years, they shared a bond where Little Bei clung tightly to her, the only one who could crawl into her mom's arms and occupy her whole thigh. Their body warmth healed each other, and Little Bei had become an irreplaceable part of her life.

I looked at the questions the mother had written down, many ending by asking Little Bei, "What should I do in the days without my little cotton quilt?" It made me a bit worried about her. Since Little Bei had passed less than 21 days ago, it wasn't really the right time for communication, but I took the opportunity to try anyway. As expected, Little Bei immediately told me, "Auntie, I'm not ready for visitors yet." I asked if she wanted to meet another day, so as not to disturb her, but Little Bei said, "It's okay because I have a high-level angel accompanying me. Look…" Then she sent me an image of an angel silhouette with wings standing on a rooftop with cranes flying nearby. Although the combination was odd, it was Little Bei's way of saying she was protected by angels now, so meeting was fine.

I asked the mother if she was angry at the person responsible, but she said she chose to forgive because everyone comforted her, saying it was Little Bei's life lesson that was completed, and that's why she was taken by heaven. During this time, although her heart ached, she felt waves of joyful energy coming from Little Bei. She believed Little Bei was happy now, just like in her dreams.

"I'm different from my sisters; I don't have any 'lessons' to do!" Little Bei had intended to tease her mother, but when she saw her mother couldn't respond, she immediately understood that Mom wasn't in the mood for her jokes. At least this confirmed that she was in good spirits now. "Mom, Little Bei really didn't bring any lessons with her this time. I'm just here for fun," she said. "Leaving wasn't sudden—it was arranged by the soul beforehand. Because this time Little Bei came to reincarnate, she bought an adventure trip ticket, which means the experience would be more thrilling than others."

I asked, "Does that include leaving this way?" "Yes! Leaving this way is part of the adventure ticket. When the ticket expires, everything happens just as it should." I continued, "What does an adventure ticket mean?" "It means this life won't be completely smooth; there are going to be some adventures. But my soul is smart. It especially arranged for me to meet Mom, so this is basically a joyful journey."

The mother said Little Bei's past was indeed somewhat rough. When she was about a year old, her previous owner's grandmother, who disliked pets, tried to poison Little Bei and another cat. The cat died, and Little Bei was urgently rehomed through a neighbor. The neighbor then approached the mother, simply saying, "Come home with me, I will take care of you." They spent many wonderful times together.

After marriage, the mother found out that the grandmother she lived with could not accept having a dog at home. Although she and her husband loved Little Bei as family, they dared not go against the elder. Thankfully, their relatives nearby helped look after Little Bei. The mother would spend two or three hours with her after work and always took her out on weekends to make up for what she felt she owed her.

Little Bei said, "Before, I didn't understand why Mom loved me so much but after marriage, I couldn't sleep at home with you," "Your place is a secret base I've never been to, and it made me a little sad." "Now, listening to Mom, I see clearly. I understand the script I bought is every time I meet someone who loves me, there's a grandmother who hates dogs breaking us apart. I get it, I get it!"

"Do you hate me?" The mother felt guilty about the helpless reality. "Oh no, hate is scary, Mom. My little brain can't hold it – it would explode." "Mom, we don't talk about hate. Hate is like a dark cloud that brings pollution to my soul. We talk about love. I still love you because my soul always shines brightly."

The mother told Little Bei, "Grandpa, Grandma, Aunties, and Uncle's families all miss you very much. Would you be willing to come back to be with me again?" At that moment, Little Bei sent me another image: a silhouette of the Little Prince wearing a scarf, standing on the same rooftop that the angel stood on. "I can't come back to you as a cute dog anymore. Mom, I know it's really difficult!" It seemed that Little Bei quickly understood her mother's situation.

"If possible, Little Bei wants to become a little boy and return to this loving family (Mom's relatives) as a human, so I could visit Mom's secret base!"
